On the road last weekend, heading up to a friend's house, we passed fields of cows.  It was strange blustery weather, blue sky in patches, storm clouds gathering, snow showers interspersed with drizzle.  The cows were oddly spaced, not gathered in herds.  I began to see them as game pieces.  So here's a kind of magical realism journal page.

  5. Strange - I have a field of cows from September to April every year to gaze at from my bedroom window - I was thinking only this morning of the way they had arranged themselves........it looked like some kind of square dance going on here in Northern Portugal on a lovely sunny morning.

  6. Thanks, all you cow fans. I like the image of a cow square dance, too, Lin! Nothing beats living near cows. There is a herd that rotates into the field behind our house every few weeks, and I always love hearing and watching them. One time I made a map of their movements over the course of a day.
